King University
Mission & Core Values
The first interaction I had with the school of nursing at King University, and we opened in prayer I knew this was going to be the best collegiate experience I had ever had.
My relationship with Christ is what lead me to be a nurse in the first place. Now that I am in a position to impact the caregivers that I come across, my touch on patients is so much broader than what I can do on my own. It is my responsibility with my God given talents to share my passion for healthcare and build up our community of providers. This degree has provided me with confidence and skills to be Christlike with my future endeavors.

For me scholarship defines a place in my life where I am no longer a novice. There is no room to keep my head in the sand. I am able to advocate better, provide better resources, and all around see a much bigger picture; when I am faced with a project or situation. I would not be able to has this advanced critical thinking without my education from King University. I have a stable foundation as an educator to be successful in the collegiate arena or the hospital setting.

Service is the key to what we do and why we do it. No matter what situation we come across whether it is patient teaching, creating resources, or developing a course we are in the business of serving. We serve through our actions. We represent God, the schools we come from, and the companies who employ us. I have served at the bedside for many years, and now I serve in a different capacity. I want to share the responsibility of tapping into the intrinsic factors of serving our peers, our leaders, and always keeping the patient top priority.

I have been blessed with a career that will never stop growing. No matter where the future takes me, I am prepared because of the time I have spent pouring into my education at King University. I have been given the tools to be successful as a nursing educator.

The service learning project was actually built through out my two years of study. We created a website that was functional, but we presented it to students and their sponsors at Big Brother Big Sister. We wanted to share the knowledge and passion we had against cyber bullying. This topic is so real for me as an emergency room nurse, a mom of a twelve year old girl, and as a professional. No matter what type of bullying can occur, no one is exempt from it. This is the topic I presented at the School Nurse Conference as well to my peers in the schools, and this was before we had multiple teen deaths this year in our local schools. We project started out as just an idea, but it became so much more. We have shared the resources and helped other adults be able to identify when students are going through turmoil that is not necessarily visible like a bruise.
